  • Botley Festival of Angels

    Friday 6th December at 9.00am

In 2017 we held our very first Christmas Tree Festival  and  filled the church with Christmas Trees large and small, all decorated by different clubs, societies, organisations and  businesses to reflect the creativity of their members and the activities they represented in the village.

Following the success of this event,  we have invited  our 2017 participants, plus a few new ones, to test the imagination of their members once again  to create an angel of any size (the larger the better for display) and in any medium. There is just one rule. All angels must have wings!

However this year we should also like to extend our invitation to participate to a wider audience in the village. How creative are you, your family, friends or neighbours?

    How about entering

        •    a Family angel,
        •    a Neighbourhood angel,
        •    a Friendship Group angel or
        •    an Individual angel?

It’s not a competition. There’s no charge to enter. It’s for the fun of seeing our village come together to celebrate our creativity and the variety of what we have on offer in Botley. So why not join in?

Most importantly, do put the date in your diary now, to be sure to come and see the finished result!

For details of how to enter, please contact Lynn Gosden:

  • Durley Crib Festival

    Friday 13th December at 12.00am

The Festival will be at Durley Church and will be open on:

    • Friday 13th December 2pm – 8pm
    • Saturday 14th 10am – 4pm
    • Sunday 15th  10am – 3.30pm
    • finishing with the Carol Service at 3.30pm on Sunday 15th.

All we need now are the cribs!

Do you have a family crib that we could borrow and put in the church for the festival? Do you have cribs from other countries? Could you paint a picture or sew a tapestry of the nativity? Have you made, or would you be willing to make, crib figures for the festival? They could be made from any material including cloth, wood, paper, knitting and tapestry.  Children could make cribs from lego, clay, cardboard boxes, paper, cloth etc.

Would your village group or organisation be willing to make a crib? We know some of you are very creative and it would be great if you could make something special for the festival. We’re hoping the table tennis group will be producing a ping pong crib!

Help us to make the church as magical as it was last year with all the Christmas trees.

If you are interested in taking part, please let us know by Friday 15th November, by e-mailing gill_mulley@hotmail.co.uk or phone Gill on 01489 860587.
